AlgoPuzzle is free to use right now: you can build a complete algorithmic trading strategy and export it as a real MetaTrader 5, MetaTrader 4, or cTrader file without paying anything and without creating an account. There's currently no limit on how many strategies you export or save. Nothing about it is a stripped-down demo: it's the full block-based builder, all three platforms, and the same generated code for every export. The one paid part is the Strategy of the Week marketplace, where independently backtested strategies are sold individually as one-time purchases.
What "free" actually gets you
Every part of building a strategy is included: connecting condition, action, and risk blocks, testing different layouts, saving and reloading as many strategies as you like, and exporting the actual .mq5, .mq4, or .cs file. There's no watermark on the generated code, no missing risk options, and no platform locked behind a paywall. See how to build your first algorithmic trading strategy for the actual five-step process.
Why it's free
The builder is free while AlgoPuzzle grows: the aim right now is for traders to use it, test their ideas, and show what's worth building next. Pricing may change in the future, but a file you've already exported is yours to keep and run. What AlgoPuzzle stores about a strategy is used to run and improve the product itself; it's never sold to third parties, so "free" doesn't come with a hidden trade-off on privacy.
Free builder vs. the alternatives
| Free algo builder | Freelance MQL5/C# developer | Learning to code it yourself | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Upfront cost | $0 | Often $100+ per strategy | $0 direct cost |
| Time to a working strategy | Minutes | Days to weeks, plus revisions | Weeks to months learning the language first |
| Platforms covered | MT5, MT4, cTrader from one layout | Usually quoted and built per platform | One language learned at a time |
None of these is wrong for every situation - hiring a developer makes sense for something too complex for blocks, and learning MQL5 or C# properly has its own value. But for a straightforward rule-based strategy, a free no-code builder removes both the cost and the time barrier that stop most people from ever testing their first idea.
What's paid
Only the marketplace. Each week a small lineup of independently backtested strategies is published on the Strategy of the Week page, with the full stats shown before you buy: one is free and the rest are one-time purchases. Buying uses a free account, so a purchased strategy stays available on every device you log into. The builder and its exports don't depend on any of it.
Common questions
Is AlgoPuzzle actually free, or is there a catch?
Right now it's free: build, save and export as many strategies as you want to MT5, MT4, or cTrader, with no account and no card. The only paid part is the marketplace of ready-made, backtested strategies.
Do I need an account to export?
Not at the moment. You can build and export without signing up. An account is used for the marketplace, so strategies you buy stay available on every device you log into.
Is there a limit on how many strategies I can export?
No. There's currently no cap on how many strategies you export or save, on any of the three platforms.
Is the free version missing any features?
No. Every export comes from the same builder and the same generator, with every block, risk option, and platform included.
Does AlgoPuzzle sell my data to keep the builder free?
No. AlgoPuzzle doesn't sell strategy data to third parties. The paid part of AlgoPuzzle is the strategy marketplace, not selling or monetizing data.
